TANK Magazine - House of Spirits

I did the makeup for Sibui Nazaranko for this editorial shot while in Greece with Sara Gilmour.

The location was an incredible disused Army building right next to a disused sanitorium, we took a quick 5 minutes to also walk around that building and it was petrifying.

For Sibui I used all MAC makeup, focusing on a gentle wash of colour on the eyelids and a statement red for the lip.

The lip was a mix of MAC Lipstick "Russian Red" and "Lady Danger", and on her eyes was a mix of MAC Cream Colour Base in "Hush" and MAC Paint in "Bamboom".

Arvida Bystrom for i-D

I did the makeup for the wonderful Arvida Bystrom for a feature on her for i-D, the link can be seen here -

http://i-d.vice.com/en_gb/read/interviews/1962/arvida-bystrom-is-hot-hot-hot-pink

Arvida is an artist, with her main medium being photography, her website can be found here - http://arvidabystrom.se/

I gave Arvida colourful and fun pops of colour in colours spied around the location house we were shooting in, and I used all MAC Cosmetics.

Key items needed for this look would be the statement pink glitter used on Arvida called "MAC Glitter" in fun shades such as "Reflects Very Pink" and "Reflects Fuschia", a sparkling fuchsia tone, and if you really want her girl-pout then you could also try MAC's Dazzleglass Lipgloss in shade "Like Venus", a bubblegum pink with red pearl - http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/product/shaded/166/1765/Products/Lips/Lipglass/Dazzleglass/index.tmpl (I also really love shades "Extra Amps", a sheer bright blue pink with blue and pink pearl, and shade "Love Alert", a raspberry red with red pearl)

Harriet Verney for TANK Magazine

I did the makeup for a super fun and simple beauty story for TANK Magazine with the amazing Harriet Verney, titled "Crown Jewels"

Harriet and her godfather Tim Noble custom made specially coloured jellies for the shoot.  This story was also shot at Tim Noble's house and his art can be seen in the first image with the waterfall, it is a piece titled "The Naked Suit" and was a collaboration with Spencer Tunick for British Esquire 2009.

You can see the story here on the website as well as a cool video -

SCMP Haute Couture

I had the wonderful opportunity of going to Paris to shoot a Couture story for SCMP with Photographer Jeff Hahn and Stylist Simone Konu, I was thrilled to be surrounded by Chanel Haute Couture, Armani Prive, Maison Martin Margiela, Schiaparelli Haute Couture and Giambattista Valli Haute Couture!

We got the cover of the magazine too which is always a welcome reward to hard efforts.

Makeup -
I used a selection of golds and pinks to create Kirsi's frosted pink-gold eyes, including -
MAC Pressed eye-shadow in shades "Swish" and "Da Bling" - http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/products/spp/shaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT154&PRODUCT_ID=PROD363&SKU_ID=SKU1679
Her lips were a mix of several shades of LipMix by MAC, available at PRO stores.

Nails -
I used a shade called "Quarter of a Cent-Cherry" by OPI which is now unfortunately discontinued, but they do stock a similar come-hither crimson called "Chick Flick Cherry", a beautiful opaque creme colour.  It can be found here on OPI's UK-based website retailing at £11.95 for a full size 15ml bottle - http://www.opiuk.com/store/burgendies/chick-flick-cherry

Lara Mullen for SLEEK Magazine

I worked as the Makeup Artist for this beautiful story for Sleek Magazine, photographed by Jeff Hahn and styled by Katy Lassen.

This story was to be shot in black and white, so the focus in the makeup was to be on tone and texture as opposed to colour, so I opted to bring a cool-chic to Lara's facial physique by giving her a simple black outlined lip using a few of my favourite blacks from MAC, including -
A kohl pencil that has all the intensity and colour power of ultra-soft carbon.  Specially formulated to provide deep, fully opaque coverage, providing an intense, smoked finish with duo-chrome pearl.
This liner is great as it can blend and smudge just as easily as it can hold a straight line, so it is perfect for nodding to the Chola-esque outline where the outside edge needs to have a sharp edge and the inside edge should ideally blend lightly into the natural lip shade.
£14.00 for 1.45g Full Size

MAC Cosmetics Creamsheen Glass in shade "Jet Boy", but grab it quick, it's Limited Edition! -
http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/products/spp/shaded.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT166&PRODUCT_ID=PROD4384&SKU_ID=SKU51799
A lip finish that fuses the creamy, sheen-filled nature of Cremesheen Lipstick with the shine of MAC Lipglass.  Soft, comfortable, non-sticky.  Use as a top layer to it's namesake Lipstick or on it's own.
£17.50 for 2.7g Full Size

I have worked with Lara Mullen before, including for Rika Magazine with photographer Jesse John Jenkins and styl, ist Rebecca Corbin-Murray @ D&V Management, which can be seen here -
