Kyle for i-D - Close up and personal

Here's a close-up shot of the grooming I did on Kyle Forde @ D1 for i-D online.

I don't like putting makeup on boys, unless there's a spot then all I will do is groom the skin lightly and bring back the freshness to the skin.

I like to leave birth marks, moles, and controversially - circles around the eyes. I love the natural hues that collect around the eyes, the slightly dewy eyelids and natural slighly toned shaded circles underneath. I like to leave the things on boys that make them boys and not detract from their natural beauty.

For Kyle's grooming I cleansed, toned, and moisturised his face and decolletage. I kept his lips moist with lipbalm and his skin lightly oiled with a dry oil.

I always make sure to brush eyebrows and keep them in shape with MAC's Brow Set (my favourite thing in the world), and I also will brush any facial hair. As silly as this sounds, you'd be suprised the directions moustache and any facial hair on boys can go in!

I also give the hands and nails a bit of attention. I like boys to have a neat and short filed nail. Not bitten and chewed, that isn't so beautiful! I rub moisturiser into all the knuckles and make sure not to forget areas such as the elbows and knees, particularly on black skin or any skin non-white.

After all of this - Kyle was ready! See, easy. Though it is never really that difficult on someone with the beauty levels of Kyle.

Saga Portrait

Another piccy from when me and David played dress up with Saga. I look back on this day with such fond memories.

When I was a kid I used to play with my best friend Hayley who lived round the back of me. I had a dressing up box that had things like my mums friends' old dresses who used to work in theatre and things like veils, costume jewellery, long sparkly gloves and oversized wedding dresses! Me and Hayley would take turns in who was the bridesmaid and who was the bride.

This day dressing up Saga really took me back to those times of just having loads of fun dressing up with your friend. Good, clean fun. This is what life should be about :)

MAC for Vice's Playdate - Nails

Here are close-ups of the nails I did with the help of my assistant Yasmin Francis for Vice's Playdate using MAC's nail varnishes.

I used a selection of nails that I felt I would have wanted at the time, including a mid-length square tipped nail that I probably would have had made from acrylic back in my late teens.

I used a selection of purples, pink and cranberry tones including MAC's Steamy, MAC's Nocturnelle for toenails, and Chenman's Love and Water Nail Lacquer in "Breezy Blue".

Mac for Vice's Playdate

Closeups for the beauty shots of the Vice shoot called "Playdate".

I used Mac Pro this day (as can be seen HERE with the use of MAC's "Violetta" lipstick", keeping the skin fresh and glossy. I like to use Mac's Cream Colour Base in "Pearl" to give that youthful, dewy finish.

For the eyes I wanted to keep them fun and clunky, by applying layer after layer of Mac's Mascara in Opulash-Optimum Black. I thought back to when I was in my late teens and my main goal in life was to have as much thick black mascara on my eyelashes as was humanly possible!

For the lips I kept them fresh and moist looking, by re-applying Mac's Lip Tinted Lip Conditioner SPF 15 in "Petting Pink".

I used several different skin textures including an overly moisturised texture and then some fun with Mac's Glitter in Pearl!
